A safari is an overland journey, usually a trip by tourist. Previously it was taken as an expedition to observe or hunt animals in their natural habitat buttoday, safari often refers to trips to observe and photograph wildlife- or hiking and sight-seeing as well.Today the negatively hunting cannotations of theword "safari" are being rapidally replaced by more modern associations with socially and environmentallyresponsible travel.

Etymologically the Swahili word safari means journey, originated from the Arabic safar meaning journey. Safari entered the English language at the end of the 1850s by Richard Francis Burto, the famous explorer.
