Nepal is a country of highly diverse and rich geography, culture and religion.The mountainous north has eight of the world’s ten highest mountains,including the world’s highest Sagarmatha, known Sherpa Language "Chamulungma and in English as MT. Enchantment is everywhere, on the buttresses of the mountains, the field terraces going up in staircase towards the sky, on the calm rivers with the course precocity, in the forests full of wildlife,flowers and songs of birds.At Kathmandu, the capital, or in the neighborhoods, the sanctuaries, temples, palace and the places which surround them, old sculptures, but also the  legends hidden in chief-of oeuvre gilded, silver plated or of brick, make valley of Kathmandu an alive museum.

Location & Geography :

Nepal is sovereign independent kingdom country, lies between two giant countries like India on South - East and West and Tibetan autonomous region of the Peoples Republic of China on North. It has more than 20 million populations and possess 147,181 Sq.Kms in a total area. The longitude from East to West is about 550 miles and the wideness (latitude) from north to south is about 90 to 150 miles. The country can be divided into three main geographical regions.

  • Himalayan Region: The altitude of this region ranges between 4877m-8848m, accumulates 8 of the highest mountains among 14 highest summits in the world. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and others.
  • Mountain regions: This region comprises 64 percent of total land area. It covers the Mahabharat range (up to 4877m) and the lower churia range.
  • Terai Region: This low-land occupies about 17 percent of the total land area of the country.

There is no seasonal constraint on travelling in Nepal because Nepal is for all seasons and all adventure through out the year.

History :

Nepal, a country with a long historic tradition brings rich flavor of mixed culture and mutual respect in faith can be viewed still through the official acceptance and participation on the public celebration after unification by King Prithvi Narayan Shah in 1768 AD. Before the unification, the Kathmandu Valley was ruled by the Malla Kings.

Immigration formalities/Entry Requirement :

Valid Passports and Visa are required for all visitor to Nepal except Indian Nationals. Tourist visa can be obtained from Royal Nepalese Embassy or Consulate or other mission offices or at the following immigration offices in Nepal :

  • Immigration office, Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.
  • Immigration office, Kakarvitta, Jhapa (Eastern Nepal.
  • Immigration office, Birgung, Parsa (Central Nepal).
  • Immigration office, Kodari, Sindhupalchowk (Northern Border)
  • Immigration office, Belahia, Bhairahawa (Rupandehi, Western Nepal).
  • Immigration office, Jamunaha, Nepalgung (Banke, Mid Western Nepal).
  • Immigration office, Mohana, Dhangadhi (Kailali, Far Western Nepal).
  • Immigration office, Gadda Chauki, Mahendranagar (Kanchanpur, Far Western Nepal).

 

All the tourists who entry Nepal for the first time in a visa year (Jan – Dec) have to pay visa fee as per below :

  • Tourist Visa with Multiple Entry for 15 days will be US$ 25.00 or equivalent convertible foreign currency.
  • Tourist Visa with Multiple entry for 30 days will be US$ 40.00 or equivalent convertible foreign currency.
  • Similarly, Tourist Visa with Multiple Entry for 90 days can be obtained by paying US $ 100.00 or equivalent convertible foreign currency.
  • Not withstanding anything written in clause (a) and (b), no visa fee shall be applicable to the passport holder of member country of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) for 30 days.

Gratis Visa :

  • Children below 10 years.
  • Dependants up to the age of 16 years, holding foreign passports of Nepalese parents or either of their parent being a Nepalese citizen.
  • Citizen of Nepali origin, after having obtained passport for the first time from Nepal based foreign mission, until the period of his departure to a foreign country.
  • Citizents of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and the People’s Republic of China.
  • Any foreigner, who has lived in Nepal up to fifteen(15) nights continuously, re-entering Nepal during the same visa year.
  • Any foreigner, tourist entering into Nepal for three days or less than that.
     

Fees to be levied for renewal or regularization of tourist visa

  • Nepalese currency equivalent to 2 US dollars per day in addition to renew the validity tourist visa.
  • In case where request has also been made for the facility of multiple entry, just valid for the renewal period an additional amount in Nepalese currency equivalent to U. S. Dollars 20 to the fee as referred to in Clause (a).
  • In regularizing visa of any foreigner stayed without renewal of validity of the tourist visa, Nepalese currency equivalent 3 US dollars per day shall be levied in addition to the normal amount to be paid for renewal of the validity of visa as per these Regulations.
  • Foreigners, who have already been overstayed more than 150 days without renewing the tourist visa shall be levied the fees referred in clause 2(c) and penalty amount as referred to in section 10(4) of Immigration act in addition.
  • Not withstanding anything written in clause 2(a), the period of visa fee shall be levied, for the purpose to renew tourist visa as 15 days and as referred to in clause 2(a) for more than this.
